Busy in the Workshop!

Workshop Activity!

Wood working, art, sewing... just ask and we will try to organize for you!

School's Out - Wednesday, October 12th
Make a Bird Feeder! No Electronics for an hour or so...

Here's a great opportunity to let your kids do something they wouldn't normally get to do!
Make your own Bird Feeder!
Our experienced wood work instructors from Design4wood will help you assemble this carefully designed bird feeder! Not only will your child have fun doing this, they can find out about bird seed when they go to buy it locally and then have endless hours watching the birds as they feast at their new creation.
Cost of workshop $30/person, material costs of $20 payable directly to instructors.
This is just one of several wood working projects that Design4wood have created. Maximum of 12 participants (minimum of 4 required). Sign up by Monday Oct 10th by email or call the store (203 493 5037).  This activity can also be organized as a birthday party - email for more info.

Creative Friday Mornings (10-12pm)
Art Classes by Wendy MacCordy

Sign up for laughs and relaxation!
Wendy works with her students every Friday in the workshop. Due to the small intimate nature of this class Wendy helps participants one on one to develop their own style regardless of medium (water color, acrylics, oil...). All levels are welcome - no experience necessary. Classes are offered as a 6 week session, but drop classes @$50/class available where space permits.
Wendy is a highly experienced teacher and works with both beginners and experienced artists. She is a faculty member at Silvermine Arts Centre and teaches a variety of classes throughout Fairfield county including children with special needs. See more about Wendy on her web page,

Sewing Skill Tune-Up (1:1 coaching)
Learn to use with your Machine by Morag Grassie
Do you have a sewing machine sitting in a closet that you'd love to use but don't know how or don't quite have the confidence to pick up and finish that half finished project? Choose a time to review the basics of sewing, review your machine and gain the confidence to get going. This could be a simple 1 hour tune up lesson, or a series of lessons to get you going again. All lessons are flexible and can be arranged to suit your schedule ($50/hr). Morag (owner of Ally Bally Bee) has been sewing since she was a girl and uses her scientist research training to solve any problem or challenge when it comes to sewing.
Despite this Singer being very old (it's a 1952!) Morag loves her old Singer - "it's a work horse and compared to some machines it feels like driving a Mercedes. I love it!"
To arrange, email Morag at
